Our History
GVR Children’s Hospital was started in B Camp Centre of Kurnool in 1986. In those days going to the children’s ward in the government hospital was the only way out for children’s ailments. To provide day and night emergency care for children from far and wide, GVR Hospital was set up in B Camp. Dr GS Ramaprasad, specially sent by the Government of India at Illinois, USA for advanced training in child healthcare, had worked as the chief consultant. It was a specialty hospital run by expert pediatricians for the children. Initially, it was set up in SBI Centre as a 10-bed hospital offering 24/7 service for the children. Later it was shifted to Park Road and was upgraded to 25 bed capacity. In 2003, it was shifted to NR Pet, where it was upgraded to 80 bed hospital with wards specially designed for children and an ICU with Level Care 3 facilities. As many as 29890 children were treated at the hospital during the last one year alone.
